Article Samurai Review: Part 1

Try Market Samurai For Free!

I’m really stoked to be getting my hands on Article Samurai, the newest article syndication tool that has just been released by Market Samurai. In this Article Samurai Review I’m going to go through the basics of how easy it is to install as well as a quick overview of how to write, spin and then syndicate and article into the network.

First the download. Getting my hands on this puppy was not easy. As I mentioned in an earlier post, Article Samurai Sold Out within about 35 minutes of its first soft launch. That was because the initial opening was just for 500 members. Market Samurai says they have about 40,000 users of their software who were eligible for this offer, so that’s some tough competition to get in the door.

Anyhow, enough jabbering about how lucky I was (and how you’ll have to wait to get your grubby little paws on this). The download is pretty simple, especially if you have already used Market Samurai and have got the Adobe backend that it runs on. Oh yes, and this puppy will run happily on a Mac or a PC so you don’t have to stress about getting parallels or VM Fusion if you use a Mac. Just hit the button and download.

When it fires up you put in your e-mail address and activation code and you’re off to the races.

 Getting started

The screen that pops up next is going to be very familiar to existing users of Market Samurai because half of it is exactly the same. You can do keyword research, generate 800 keywords from a seed keyword, analyse them for traffic, competition and value and check out the top-ranking competitors for the words. You also have a standard rank checker so you can see where various sites or specific URLs rank for particular keywords

So this is all old ground. You can also find content just as with the baseline tool. What’s missing from this compared with Market Samurai are

  1. the monetization module that allows you to find products on Amazon or other affiliate netowrks
  2. the domains module, that helps you buy domains
  3. the publish content module, that provides a quick interface right into your blog, and
  4. the promotion module that helps you find back-links.

I guess they left bits out of this because they still want you to buy a copy of Market Samurai. Instead of the missing four modules above is a brand new Syndicate Article module.

This is the guts of the new service and so far it looks pretty cool. When you first click into it you get taken to a fairly simple editor that would be familiar to you from the old Publish Content module in the baseline.

Article Spinner

There is nothing especially exciting about this. You simply type or paste an article in here and do whatever formatting you like. This is not very exciting. The magic though is in the spinning software and the syndication software.

The spinner is really easy and intuitive to use.  The spinning module is provided by Content Boss and it works pretty darned well. I’ve used a couple of the top spin tools out there including The Best Spinner (which is not, in my humble opinion, the best) as well as Magic Article Rewriter but never this one.. This seems to do a quicker and easier job of it and doesn’t produce the same level of garbage when set to automatic that most other spinners seem to do. That said, it only produces articles that are quite lightly spun. There is no fancy nesting here (spins within spins) nor is there paragraph or sentence spinning (as you would find with Unique Article Wizard). In fact, they recommend a spin level of about 30% uniqueness, which seems pretty low to me.

As you can see above, the spinner produces pretty readable copy and it also doesn’t look as horrible as many other spinners look. It highlights the words or phrases that are spun and if you click on them you can see what the alternate versions are. You do need to give it a read and check the various versions to make sure they make sense, but since it doesn’t over complicate the spinning you usually have sentences that read pretty well (instead of the usual versions where you have spins going one way in the beginning of a sentence and then the other way in the middle and end  - producing something totally incomprehensible).

You get 50 automatic spins a month from Content Boss with your subscription to Article Samurai and can buy more by paying $25 for 40 spins or $55 for 100 spins. It seems to me that 50 cents a spin is pretty good value given that you get something that is just about ready to use with only minor tweaking, whereas doing a manual spin of similar quality would easily take 30 minutes or more.

 Syndication

Each article takes 3 links, one in the content and two in the resource box. They recommend the link distribution is as follows:

  1. a link in the resource box to your home page with your main keyword
  2. a second link in the resource box targeting a deep page on your site
  3. a link in the main article pointing at a category page on your site.

You add your links, you run the spin, you read through and make corrections and that is it. It is not quite the 5 minute job that they promise but it isn’t a huge amount of time more.

In summary it is a quick and easy spin.

The next step is to add an author name, run it through some automated checks and hit syndicate. In part II of my Article Samurai Review I’ll go into a bit more detail on how it sends them out and how it is doing. I hope you find this useful and please give me some feedback down below.

What you wrote there fits in with what I’m finding. I don’t have a lot of use for (eg) the domain module, but boy can I use the spinner and submitter. I don’t know how the samurai guys have managed to do it, but finally a spinner that doesn’t spit out total *&%& (‘best’ spinner!!!). I suspect that 30% may be a trifle low too, but I’m only seeing percentages that low on certain kinds of stuff (generally stuff I’ve ‘borrowed’ that looks like its already been spun). On my financial stuff I’m hitting 50% plus. Now the next step is to see after submission how many of those links actually stick. I can already see some of them, on the bigger sites, but I’m guessing the long term benefits may actually come from the little sites, because it may make my ‘link profiling’ look more realistic. Time will tell. What I do feel confident about is that this is a solid product, geared towards long term use for people who are creating real enterprises, not just ‘get rich quick’ merchants. Having said that I’ve already seen people on fiver offering ‘blasts’ with article samurai for a few bucks!!!

Looking forward to part 2 – be sure to let us know how your links are sticking!

      Hi Jeff
I’m interested and glad to hear that you’re getting pretty high ratio’s on the unique score. I also agree that having been with Market Samurai for some time I’m pretty impressed with their ethic and philosophy and am also willing to trust that they are in this for the long run.
Anyhow, I’ve given an update with some early movements in my rankings and would love to hear how you are getting along and what results you are getting.
